Neuro-Linguistic Programming… What is NLP?!
As someone who has been deep in the world of spirituality and personal development for nearly 12 years, I thought I had to carry my limiting beliefs, my self-doubt, and that nagging critical voice in my head for a damn long time and do some intense therapy and inner healing before I could break out of it. I did the deep healing work. I journaled. I tapped (EFT). I sat with my shadows, meditated, paid $300/session for EMDR therapy, did Bowen therapy too, silent meditation retreats, all of the things to try and heal.
And don’t get me wrong—those tools are powerful, and impactful. But when I learned Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and saw firsthand that I could break down a lifelong limiting belief in under 10 minutes… I was freakin’ offended. You mean healing didn’t have to be a tumultuous journey of going inward, learning about and sourcing the root cause of the pain, reliving the trauma, regulating myself through it, going to spiritual workshops in Byron Bay, connecting with my inner child each morning, visualising every night before bed, consistently rewiring neural pathways… (which, I actually still do, because I love it 🤭)? I wish I knew this sooner, and I wish this was more wide-spread. So, I’m going to introduce you to the world of NLP too.
So if you’ve never heard of NLP before, let me break it down for you in the simplest way possible ☺️
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
N = Neuro (Your Brain 🧠)
Think of your brain like a giant supercomputer running different programs. Some programs help you—like the one that tells you how to brush your teeth or ride a bike. But some programs… not so much. Like the one that whispers, “You’re not good enough,” or “Making money is hard,”or “You’ll never find love.” Those are just old programs (aka limiting beliefs) that got installed along the way. And here’s the wild part (which you may likely be aware of if you’re on your personal development journey): you can change them.
L = Linguistic (Your Words & Thoughts 🗣️)
The words you speak and the thoughts you think are literally programming your reality every single day. For example, if you constantly say:
❌ “I’m bad with money.”
❌ “I’m always so overwhelmed.”
❌ “Nothing ever works out for me.”
Guess what? Your brain will make sure that’s true. It will filter out evidence to the contrary and keep running that old program. But with NLP, we change the language you use—both inside your mind and out loud—so your brain starts creating a new reality. In NLP, the linguistic part is both how we speak to ourselves (internally) and how people like myself as a coach speak to others, to make a deeper impact. There’s a lot we’re observing in a session that you wouldn’t be aware of, all for your evolution (you should see what I look out for on a first date! 🤪)
P = Programming (Rewriting the Story 🔄)
If your brain is a computer and your thoughts are the software… then NLP is like installing an upgrade. We literally reprogram old beliefs, fears, and doubts at the subconscious level—so instead of just thinking differently, you actually start feeling and acting differently. And the best part? It works FAST. (Like, disturbingly fast. Like, how is this even possible? fast.)
What Can NLP Help With?

Whilst studying NLP and in class with fellow students, we practiced techniques on each other. Some limiting beliefs I personally recognised were holding me back were:
Lack of self-esteem
Not feeling as if I have natural beauty
Unable to stand in front of a camera and speak, without a filter or having my hair and makeup ‘impeccable’
Procrastination
It’s actually so funny to sit here and write this, because some of the techniques didn’t happen instantly (others did), but quietly crept in. Two weeks later I went to the gym with absolutely zero makeup on, no lash extensions, hair just naturally wavy and half-up, and I took a quick video of myself to put on my story and thought “wow, look at how clear my skin is and how prominent my cheekbones are!” and I kept wanting to look at myself without makeup on, something I will usually always avoid (even leaving the house without checking if I have anything on my face first — very avoidant). I realised as I got to the gym that I felt naturally beautiful for the first time in my life.
I also found myself immediately after one NLP session, incredibly excited to show up and jump in front of the camera! The sh*t holding me back was gone, it felt like absolutely nothing and no longer held any charge or power, and there was nothing but excitement and anticipation to jump in front of a camera and speak my truth. To share so much of what’s in my mind and heart, to stop playing small, to step into my power and do what it is I have been put here to do. Do you know how much of an impact that has had on my business!? On my self worth and confidence within myself? The creative spark within me has been evoked again and I am wildly putting new offerings and programs together, recording content for my social audience, connecting and nurturing that community because I have so much more trust in myself to make things happen and bring things to life. It’s been so exponential. And it was from like a 10 minute practice session 😂🤯
You Don’t Have to Carry It Forever
